The financial planning process
01.
Initial discovery meeting
Welcome to the Solus family! After you’ve got in touch with us, we’ll set a date for this initial meeting, and you’ll receive an email explaining what to bring. Before this meeting, we’ll send you an invitation to take our short ScoreMy Financial Planning online scorecard.
During the meeting, we’ll gather all the information we need about you, including your goals, circumstances and existing financial arrangements. To end the meeting, we’ll introduce you to the concept of lifestyle financial planning by showing a short video.
02.
Lifestyle financial planning meeting
During this meeting, you will start to see the benefits of lifestyle financial planning. We’ll introduce you to cashflow planning and clearly explain how it can change your life and visions for the future. If you have any questions, we’ll answer them clearly, without using any financial jargon.
We use this meeting as an opportunity to explain our fees, complete letters of authority and gather any additional data we may need from you.
03.
Conducting our research
Once we’re happy that we have all the information we need, we will go away and conduct our research into the most appropriate recommendations for your specific needs.
As part of this process, we will write a suitability letter that explains why these financial products or services are suitable for you.
04.
Presenting our findings
Now for the exciting part: seeing your finances come to life! We’ll meet with you again to present our research and discuss our recommendations. We’ll explain why we’ve made these recommendations and answer any questions.
We understand that financial advice may be new to you, so we’ll treat you with care and compassion so you can make informed decisions.
05.
Implementing your plan
Once you’re happy with our recommendations and we’ve answered your questions, we will begin to implement them on your behalf. We’ll handle all the necessary paperwork and keep you updated along the way.
06.
Welcome meeting
Around three months after we’ve implemented your plan and once the dust has settled, we will book in a welcome meeting to explain where we are in the process and show you what we’ve achieved in the past few months.
During this meeting, we want you to tell us what you think we’ve done and the reasons for it. We do this so you completely understand the process and are completely informed.
07.
Annual planning meeting
Long-term relationships are incredibly important for us. A lifestyle financial plan isn’t a once-and-done job; it requires us to check in with you annually to establish any changes in your circumstances and see how your plan is performing.
If we need to make adjustments, we will look after this, so you continue to stay on course.
